"Moving Water and River" Exhibit

Wonderful news - two of my art quilts have been selected for exhibition in the Taiwan International Quilt Exhibition 2012 Taiwan.  I wish I could go to see the show - but it's so far away!

When (Pink) Pigs Fly...

I have a little collection of flying pigs.  I bought this one at an art fair at least 20 years ago.  It is one of my favorites.

This week's Texture Tuesday challenge was the color "pink" and any of Kim's textures.  Here I changed the color of the texture to pink.

You be the Judge...

I constructed a light box to enable me to take photos with no distracting background.  It's something I've been wanting to do for myself for quite some time.

I keep this old coffee can on a bookshelf in my studio - the addition of silk flowers and greenery adds a bit of whimsy, don't you think?

A ripple filter was added to the texture layer.  This layer was duplicated and a layer mask applied.

Making Marks...

For me, making the first mark on a new sketchbook is always the hardest.  My dear friend, Betty, gave me a beautiful handmade journal for Christmas.  I've been afraid to mess it up - but finally decided now was the time to make my mark!

Inspired by the sound of a rooster crowing this morning, I started with a simple pencil sketches; added a little ink and and colored pencils.

Texture Tuesday challenge this week is a black and white photo and any of Kim's textures.

Friendly Swap

Francie from The Scented Cottage and I recently exchanged handmade gifts.  I am so pleased with this little pin cushion Francie made for me - what a delightful addition to my sewing studio!

Thank you, Francie!

Spring Ahead....

Every Sunday morning I treat myself to a beach walk.  I start out very early - before sunrise.  Daylight Saving Time took effect this weekend.  I brought my camera and took a picture of the Naples Pier just as my walking was nearly over and the sun was coming up.

Hard Labor...

I took loads of picture in Immokalee, a farming community in Collier County Florida.  The settlement was originally known as Gopher Ridge.  (The etymology of the name appears to mean either "My Home" or His Home".)  The is a hard working community.  Can you imagine how exhausting it must be to spend your day bent over picking tomatoes!

Heart Felt...

Two dear friends joined me in the studio.  We each made a little heart - this is mine.

Tulips

I bought these tulips at Costco.  The first day they were only green leaves.  Within 2 days, the tulips had bloomed - it was magical!
