Art on Canvas

My dear friend, Betty, treated me to lunch to celebrate my birthday.  We strolled through Third Street to see the plein air painting going on - a two day charity event with an auction over the weekend.

Talented artists, local color, fountains, flowers and birds - what's not to love!

I found some more turtles...

Many decorative fountains can be found in the area
Note the little bird on top of the cherub's head - so cute

Flowers floating in a fountain

It was a beautiful way to celebrate.  Thank you Betty!

What an incredible collection of photos -- beautiful character studies of artists and it looks like a fabulous setting and perfect day! Don't you love an artist date with a good friend -- especially when a celebration is involved? Happiest to you, my friend!

Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday with your friend. The open air event sounds like a perfect way to spend a day out and about.
I love your photo (edit) of the flowers in the pond - beautiful!

What a fun photo shoot and way to spend your birthday! I wish I were a real artist like these pictured. I always wanted to paint landscapes, but never felt confident enough to try, so what little talent I had sorta fizzled. I'm trying to correct this, though. In recent months I picked up my pencils to do a little sketching for the first time in a hundred years. Okay, I'm not that old, but it feels like it's been forever and really it has. The newness and joy to doodle is refreshing. I'm looking forward to spending more time in my art as I'm moved to do so. Thanks for sharing your photo-art this weekend! Have a fototastic week!
